A YouTube channel called ElAnalistaDeBits, which translates as TheBitsAnalyst, has taken it upon themselves do a graphics and performance comparison video for the recently released My Friend Peppa Pig.
The video shows side by side comparisons for resolution, frames per second, loading times, draw distance, textures, and shadows. The thing is that the game, like the cartoon it is based off, is very basic. It consists of simply drawn characters on a flat two dimensional plane so there are no textures or draw distances, and shadows are simple grey circles. As the game is so simple the frame rate is identical across all games, so it’s only the resolution and loading times that differ and that’s what you would expect as the Switch is not as powerful as the bigger consoles.
The channel have posted other comparison videos for game such as Dying Light, Disco Elysium and Lost Judgment so the Peppa Pig comparison video is not a joke, the are taking this very seriously.
“The best antialiasing is on PS5 and Series X,” report ElAnalistaDeBits, “There are longer load times on Switch and there is a glitch that skips the initial tutorial if we exit the game.”
“For portability reasons, I would choose the Switch version,” they conclude.
It seems our review copy of has got lost in the post, so here’s the synopsis from Steam.
