Blue Nintendo Switch Lite Coming May 21

Nintendo has announced a new Blue Nintendo Switch Lite, and it’s coming next month in time for the re-release of Miitopia.

The Blue Nintendo Switch Lite is launching on May 21st with the standard Switch Lite price of $199.99, and is the fifth color Nintendo has offered for their Switch Lite consoles after gray, yellow, turquoise, and coral.

“By expanding the existing range of color options for the system, the blue Nintendo Switch Lite gives you more options to express your personal gaming style wherever you choose to play,” Nintendo said a press release.

As mentioned, the new Blue Nintendo Switch Lite is launching alongside their re-release of Miitopia, a game where players have to use their Mii characters to fight the Dark Lord and save Miitopia. Despite Nintendo slightly dropping the Mii’s from the Switch’s ecosystem, it’s interesting they’re bringing back a turn-based RPG focused totally on Mii’s.

Here’s some more glamour and packaging shots:

The previous color to be announced by Nintendo was the Coral Nintendo Switch Lite, which they launched back in February of last year. It has been consistently sold out alongside the other Switch Lite colors, so it will be interesting to see how available the new Blue Nintendo Switch Lite will be after release.

The Nintendo Switch Lite was launched back in 2019 to be the handheld-only, lighter, and cheaper option for gamers to get a Nintendo Switch. As it is handheld-focused, it has no detachable Joy-Cons and has no ability to be docked to play on a TV like the regular Nintendo Switch, which retails for another $100.
