Introduced in the aptly-titled Season 4 Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, the OTs 9 joins the game's ever-growing arsenal and serves as a valuable new SMG that melts from any distance. It does, however, take some time to unlock and upgrade, though that shouldn't be too difficult with double XP still ongoing for both weapons and player experience.

Given all of the wild changes amended in the Season 4 Reloaded update, the OTs 9 now out of the gate is arguably one of the most versatile weapons, with several of the most meta SMGs and ARs taking huge hits via TTK rebalancing. To that end, let's reacquaint ourselves with this newly improved battlefield through the sleekest new tool in the shed.
How To Unlock The OTs 9
Like most newly-added weaponry, there are four main ways to unlock the OTs 9 across both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone:
- Get three SMG kills of enemies affected by tactical equipment in 15 completed Multiplier matches
- Kill 50 Tempests with SMGs within two seconds of them reappearing after teleporting in Zombies
- Get 2 or more rapid SMG kills in 15 completed Warzone matches
- Purchase the Inside Job bundle for 1,200 COD Points in the store
The simplest way to get the first one done is by equipping yourself with a well-rounded SMG of your choice (preferably one you may want to upgrade alongside unlocking the OTs 9) and using Decoy Grenades as your tactical. Domination is probably the best game mode, as it allows you more than enough time to get all three kills, but you could also simply dive into some Nuketown 24/7 and finish the challenge just as easily. You must, however, stay to the end of the match. You can't just pop into any multiplayer game mode, get three of the necessary SMG-tactical kills and leave, you have to stay to the end of the match.
Given the difficulty, stress, and time-consuming nature of the Zombies, I would personally skip that one, but if you feel up to the challenge by all means attempt it. The second quickest way to unlock the OTs 9 is via Warzone, specifically by getting 2 rapid kills with an SMG, which can be done by playing Plunder and waiting to the very last second to drop with most of the AFK players or bots. There will be other players doing this, so be prepared for a bit of action.
Then, there's always the easiest approach and that's by simply buying the new weapon blueprint, titled "Undercover Agent," which is sold for 1,200 COD points within the Inside Job bundle. Remember, purchasing the bundle and equipping the weapon does not in effect unlock it, meaning you won't be able to upgrade it to your choosing. You will still have to actually unlock the weapon via the aforementioned challenges in order to add specific attachments of your choosing.
Best OTs 9 Attachments
The OTs 9 is a welcome addition to the battlefront, utilized best in close to mid-range bouts. The best attachments for this powerhouse of an SMG when playing on either Verdansk or Rebirth Island are as follows:
- Muzzle: Sound Suppressor or GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 8.1" Task Force
- Laser: Tiger Team Spotlight
- Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock or Serpent Wrap
- Ammunition: VDV 40 Rnd Fast Mag
The Sound Suppressor works best in this situation over the GRU due to ADS times, which is why the Tiger Team Spotlight helps and the fast mag can still do its job without too much of a constraint on your targeting. The OTs 9 is best paired with either the FARA or Krig, the latter of which has become one of the most dominant weapons in the new update.
Even with Warzone hacks now more prevalent than ever before and these pesky cheaters spreading even onto consoles, the OTs 9 saddled with the above attachments and weapons will not fail you in combat.
