Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire Episode 2 Details; Lifepaths, Weapons, Music, and More

Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire

CD Projekt Red have revealed new information about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 during their latest Night City Wire livestream.

The livestream live right now, and we will continue to update this article as information is revealed.

As previously detailed in an interview with CD Projekt RED Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko, the origin players choose will also dictate some elements of the plot (such as how they meet Jackie), grant new quests and dialogue options, and different “paths” the player can choose towards the end of the story.

Certain choices can even change a player’s “lifepath,” allowing them to finish the game as an entirely different character to their origin. The lifepaths include Street Kids living in desperation in Night City among the gangs, one of the Nomads living on the outside of the city with formerly strong family connections, or a Corpo (specifically a hitman for the Corpo) that still has plenty of their own dangers to face.

This affects dialogue options. For example, one quest line has a Corpo NPC Meredith asking you to retrieve a flathead robot stolen by the Malestrom gang. A Corpo character will have the insight to know what Meredith really wants, while a Nomad knows Malestrom would have had to do something special to steal it. The Street Kid can even become friendly with Malestrom NPCs, to their advantage.

It was also emphasized that your lifepath will not prevent you to go to the Badlands, with quests that will take you there. The Badlands are also hinted to be just as dangerous as the cities, as the land has been ravaged by war and global warming.

The new trailer also revealed NPC Padre, a Fixer who acts as an intermediary to find those who can solve problems for those who can pay. Street Kids will already know Padre, as they grew up around Haywood- Padre’s territory. Players will still meet Padre no matter their lifepath.

While radio stations and the game’s soundtrack will be discussed in the future, here CD Projekt Red focused Johhny Silverhand’s (Keanu Reeves) band Samurai. Refused is a real life Swedish punk rock band, who are creating music for Cyberpunk 2077‘s in-universe chrome rock music band SAMURAI. The band explains how interesting it was to create music for “another band,” rather than entirely their own style of music.

The weapon categories and those related to weapons include Cyberware, melee weapons, smart weapons, power weapons, tech weapons, throwables, weapon mods, and attachments. Cyberware (cybernetics stored in your arms) can also be defensive.

The main weapons are power, tech, and smart. Power weapons are closest to contemporary weapons, and are able to ricochet bullets. Tech uses rail-gun style electromagnetic launching to penetrate cover and arm. Smart weapons use guided-missile technology to bend shots and pursue targets that are hiding or running.

To combine RPG and FPS elements, players will get more proficient with weapons as they use them. This increases nearly all aspects of using a weapon (better aim, reloading speed, moving speed while using it, faster aiming down sights, and more).

Weapon can be bought from vendors, but the best can be found from foes and in weapon caches. Rarity tiers range from common, uncommon, rare, and legendary. Legendary weapons will also boast special abilities. Some legendary weapons can only be obtained by killing certain characters.

Attachments- such as scopes and silencers- will be shown on weapons and improve statistics of the weapon. Weapon Mods are software based, and also alter the stats, or even change the shots to non-lethal or chemical.

Finally, The World of Cyberpunk 2077 book was revealed, and announced as being available for purchase now. In collaboration with Dark Horse Books, it will offer an insight into the game’s lore, world, and art.

A third Night City Wire livestream was announced, but no date was given.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches November 19th for Windows PC (via GOG, and Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough hands-on preview for Cyberpunk 2077 from E3 2019, here.
