Cyberpunk 2077 Update Seemingly Removes Character’s Tattoo

It cannot be overstated just how much of a disaster CD Projekt Red's much-anticipated open world sci-fi epic Cyberpunk 2077 was on release. Plagued with game-breaking bugs, the community has been enraged, the media has criticized the title and the studio, yet things are beginning to look up as updates continue to improve things. With hope on the horizon for Cyberpunk, it's close to becoming the game it should have been in the first place. However, there are still some small things that the community is noticing about the game, seemingly after the latest patch.

Posting a couple of screenshots to the Cyberpunk 2077 Subreddit a couple of days ago, a user who goes by the alias Middle_Cobbler1660 has noticed one small missing detail in the game, specifically related to the game's first Braindance activity. Showing the new image first, followed by the old one, the poster makes mention of the fact that a tattoo on the character's left arm has been removed, or at least changed to something less distinctive. What the images show is that in the previous version, the tattoo shows the number 24 in bright, yellow letters, with what appears to be a silhouette of a basketball player behind it. This is likely in reference to Kobe Bryant, who wore the number 24 jersey when he played for the L.A. Lakers. In the image taken after the update, the tattoo has been replaced by a more faded tiger head.

Considering Cyberpunk 2077 is a game known for heavily tattooed characters, it's entirely possible for many fans to not spot this missing detail, but not Middle_Cobbler1660. Some in the comments have speculated as to why the 24 tattoo was removed, with some suggesting it was never in the full release to begin with, and only appeared in the game for a single event. Whatever the reason, it's still a bit of a weird thing for the developer to remove.

The 1.3 update has made some noticeable changes to the game for the better. One thing that's been improved in Cyberpunk is the way NPCs go about driving, specifically they can now be seen actually using the steering wheel, giving a somewhat more immersive feel to riding shotgun.

Overall, the Reddit user noticing the removal of a prominent tattoo is not exactly a game-breaking issue, but it is an interesting detail. With CD Projekt Red saying they put a lot of effort into 1.3, it seems as though things are moving forward, but there's still a ways to go, and it's going to take some time before fans and critics are completely happy with the finished product.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades are in development.
