Cyberpunk 2077’s Panam is the Game’s Vin Diesel

Although they have since died down, Vin Diesel memes had a good run in video games. The release of F9 saw a new batch of meme material hit the internet, and fans were quick to have him appearing in several video game franchises, talking about family. Vin Diesel memes hit God of War, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Elder Scrolls, Nier Automata, Mass Effect, and far more.

One video game that was seemingly and/or mostly spared from the new meme surge was Cyberpunk 2077. Oddly enough, with the nomadic Aldecados having a huge emphasis on being a family, Vin Diesel would have fit right in. Yet, that may be because Cyberpunk 2077 already has its own Vin Diesel, and her name is Panam.

Cyberpunk 2077 Panam Palmer vs. Fast and Furious’ Dom Toretto

Fast and the Furious is a beloved franchise, one with simple themes and lessons. Each movie is about upping the ante, driving fast cars through dangerous situations, and surviving thanks to family. Each of the aforementioned Vin Diesel memes focused on how important family was, in sometimes cheesy situations. It made for the best meme material because of how families of some sort appear in several video games.

Often, though, those don’t have a Dom Toretto-style figure who pushes the family idea so far. Cyberpunk 2077 is the exception, as Panam Palmer is Dom Toretto made over. Dom enjoys racing and fast cars, so does Panam. Dom was an auto mechanic, so too was Panam. Dom pulled elaborate stunts, and the Aldecados in Cyberpunk 2077 were perfect at that, ranging from the heist of the Basilisk to the Arasaka Tower plot.

Of course, the world and setting are a far cry apart in terms of style, as Fast and the Furious is more set in the real world, but there are even similarities there. Elaborate plots involving those raised on the streets, heists that seem out of this world, corrupt government (or corporate) affairs, and more are present in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Fast and Furious.

For example, F9 features Project Aries which is capable of hacking any computer in the world. That sounds Cyberpunk enough, even if it isn’t as fully fleshed as Cyberpunk 2077 itself. In the simplest terms, as far as a strong moral code, family values, and cars go, it seems rather clear that Panam Palmer is Cyberpunk 2077’s Dom Toretto/Vin Diesel.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
