Demon’s Souls’ Recent Gameplay Reveal Was Running at 1440p and 60 FPS

Demon's Souls PS5_02

As next-gen approaches, many will be hoping that 4K and 60 FPS both become the standard that developers across the industry will follow, empowered by more powerful hardware. And as one of the only next-gen-only games coming out in the next few months, expectations are quite high from Demon’s Souls on that front.

What we’ve seen of the game so far looks visually stunning, and impressive in other ways as well, but as revealed in a recent analysis by Digital Foundry (which you can view below), Demon’s Souls’ recent gameplay trailer shown at the PS5 Showcase was not running at 4K. The game was instead running at 1440p and 60 FPS.

Of course, there’s a case to be made that performance is what matters more, especially in a game like Demon’s Souls, so it’s good to know that the game is up to expectations on that front. There’s also the fact that there’s a while left before the game launches, so further optimization could always improve things for its resolution. Meanwhile, Digital Foundry speculations that the game might have a performance mode and a visuals mode, with the latter focusing on 4K visuals at lower frame rates, but that isn’t something that the developers or Sony have officially talked about yet.

Demon’s Souls launches exclusively for the PS5 on November 12. The game will require 66 GB of free storage space in the console’s storage.
