Destiny 2: Season 15 Prep Guide

Destiny 2 is on its final week of Season of the Splicer, giving players a short timespan to prepare for the unannounced Season 15 that launches next week. It's unknown what content Season 15 will have in store, but there are a few things players can do to prepare for what's to come.

Beyond chasing god rolls, this is the perfect time to stock up on resources, turn in materials that are about to become depreciated, and finish any lingering quests. We'll be giving nine tips on how you can make some last-minute preparations for Season 15, most of which don't require a major time investment.

Turn In Your Vanguard Tokens

Vanguard Tokens will be depreciated when Season 15 begins. Turn in your tokens now before they have no use!

Zavala will be receiving a reward structure overhaul in Season 15 that mimics what Shaxx and the Drifter received in Season of the Chosen, replacing tokens with a playlist ranking and reward track. If you frequent the strike and Nightfall playlist, there's a good chance you have hundreds or thousands of tokens sitting in your inventory or Vault. Give all of them to Zavala at the Tower to receive Vanguard-themed weapons and armor. Most of these items are lackluster, although you can dismantle them for Legendary Shards. If you're low on Shards, this is a great way to build up a small (or large) stockpile.

Stock Up On Upgrade Modules

This is a rather specific suggestion, but you should stock up on Upgrade Modules before the next season starts. If you want to complete Master content as easily as possible, you'll want to infuse your items to your highest Power level. You don't need to always be infusing your gear every Power increase; just be sure you can infuse your gear as needed.

While you're at it, make sure you have some Glimmer left over for next season. Purchasing Upgrade Modules can quickly turn that Glimmer balance to zero. Speak to the Spider if you need to get a large sum of Glimmer quickly.

Obtain Masterwork Materials

A new season means new gear to chase, which also means there are more items to Masterwork. Masterworking weapons and armor can get incredibly expensive if you're short on Masterwork materials, so be sure to stock up on Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant Shards now while Master and GM Nightfalls are still relatively low level. Check out our guides below if you need help farming a stockpile of Masterwork materials.

Expand Your Arsenal

Bungie recently revealed the Anti-Champion mods that will be present in Season 15. If you missed it, here's what the Artifact will bring:

Mod Cost Applies To
Anti-Barrier Auto Rifle 1 Energy
  • Auto Rifles
    • (Unconfirmed) Could also apply to another weapon archetype
Overload Bow 1 Energy
  • Bows
Overload Sword 1 Energy
  • Swords
    • Doesn't work with The Lament
Unstoppable Pulse Rifle 1 Energy
  • Pulse Rifles
Unstoppable Sidearm 6 Energy
  • Sidearms
Unstoppable Fusion Rifle 6 Energy
  • Fusion Rifles
  • Linear Fusion Rifles

While only one Anti-Barrier mod exists this season, there's a chance it applies to a second weapon archetype as well. This was a common occurrence throughout Year 3, so keep an eye on that mod's description once Season 15 launches.

    • Auto Rifle
  • Hard Light

    • Auto Rifle
  • Arsenic Bite-4b

Farm For Exotic Armor

Exotic armor is going to see some tuning in Season 15. If you want to get the most out of your Exotics and builds, you'll want to farm for good rolls of your favorite Exotics. Start farming Legend and/or Master Lost Sectors before the next season begins. Legendary Lost Sectors have a chance of dropping an Exotic armor piece each run and can be farmed solo. If you've never farmed Lost Sectors before, we recommend The Perdition, Veles Labyrinth, and K1 Revelation.

Create A Build

Destiny 2 is embracing more MMO elements each season, adding more armor mods and Exotics for players to use. You should consider making a build before the next season starts. Experiment with Exotics or subclasses you like, then start to consider what weapons and Combat Style mods would synergize with your loadout. We also have in-depth build guides for all three classes you can find below.

Claim Your Season Pass Rewards

A new season brings a new Season Pass for players to grind. Be sure to claim all Season Pass rewards from Chosen and Splicer. Chosen isn't a typo here: you can actually claim rewards from last season by visiting bungie.net. Grab any Exotic Engrams, Masterwork Materials, and cosmetic items you forgot to grab.

Obtain Every Stasis Aspect And Fragment

If previous seasons are any indicator, each Stasis class is going to get a new Aspect and four new Fragments next season. Be sure you have all of your Aspect quests complete so you can unlock the fifth Aspect right when the season starts. Speak to the Exo Stranger on Europa to start your Aspect and Fragment quests. Complete all of your Aspect quests and obtain as many Fragments as possible before the new season starts. Read our Stasis Aspects guide for more information.

It's also worth noting that you can save Memory Fragments between seasons. Purchase a weekly bounty from the Exo Stranger. Fill your consumables inventory. Complete the bounty, then turn it in. You will now have a Memory Fragment in your Postmaster ready to claim when the new season starts. Do this as much as necessary. You can also place these Memory Fragments in your Vault.

Level Your Alts

"Alts," short for alternate characters, can prove useful if you're someone who loves farming raids, dungeons, or PvP content. Most activities in Destiny 2 grant one reward per clear per week, but this almost always applies per character. If you have three characters, that's triple the loot you can obtain in a given week. It also massively expands your options for Gambit, Trials of Osiris, and Nightfalls.

If that wasn't enough, alternate characters can transfer weapons between each other, making the leveling process of a new season much faster. View our Power Leveling guide for more information on efficiently leveling your main character and alts.
