Bungie recently hosted a Destiny 2 showcase that focused mainly on the Witch Queen expansion, but also what's coming in the new Season of the Lost, kicking off in the looter-shooter today. Bungie is making some changes to the Trials of Osiris PvP experience in Destiny 2 Season of the Lost, adding some long-requested features that should greatly please fans of the notoriously challenging game mode.
Destiny 2 is upgrading the Trials of Osiris by adding an anti-cheat system as well as matchmaking. The lack of Trials of Osiris matchmaking in the past has made the mode completely inaccessible to some Destiny 2 players, making it impossible for them to unlock some of the rewards or complete all of the Seasonal Challenges. Adding matchmaking to Trials of Osiris should rectify those issues, and it will definitely be interesting to see how the community reacts to it.

The high stakes of the Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris matches has resulted in some players cheating to get ahead. The anti-cheat system should combat those problems, theoretically resulting in a fairer Trials of Osiris across the board. It remains to be seen how it will all play out in practice, but fans won't have to wait too long to find out.
Meanwhile, Bungie is also sweetening the pot when it comes to Destiny 2's Trials of Osis rewards. Previously, Trials of Osiris rewards were basically only doled out to winners, but now players will get rewards for winning rounds as well. While it may still be incredibly difficult for some Destiny 2 players to win entire matches in Trials of Osiris, winning individual rounds is a much more realistic endeavor, so they will at least be getting something for their efforts, even if they fail to go Flawless.
All things considered, these changes should go a long way in opening up Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris to more players and make it more interesting to those who normally wouldn't touch it. And thanks to Destiny 2 crossplay, also being introduced with Season of the Lost, those who have friends on other platforms will be able to play the Trials of Osiris together as well, which should also help make it a more appealing prospect to all Guardians.
One has to wonder how Destiny 2 may change the Trials of Osiris in future updates as well, like with the Witch Queen expansion and beyond, but for now fans can focus on Season of the Lost.
Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
