For the past year or so, both Sony and Microsoft have been shouting "The next generation of games is here!" from every rooftop that they could find. Spec sheets were shown off, phrases like FPS, teraflops, 4K, and ray tracing suddenly became the hot new words of the day, and everyone fantasized about what the next generation of games would actually look like.
