Frontier Foundry announces another fascinating title. FAR: Changing Tides delivers the second adventure in Okomotive’s post-apocalyptic world.
Frontier is publishing the sequel on behalf of Okomotive, a Swiss developer. This new FAR game was announced at the PC Gaming Show and is scheduled to be released in late calendar 2021 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC.
FAR: Changing Tides expands on the barren world created in Okomotive’s award-winning debut title, FAR: Lone Sails, swapping dunes for sea waves.
“The reception to FAR: Lone Sails was humbling, to know that people felt the same passion as we do about that world inspired us to continue to build on it with Changing Tides. We knew we wanted to tell a different but a complimentary tale, one which would be familiar to fans but fresh and exciting,” says Okomotive Co-Founder Don Schmocker.
Players control Toe – a hero imprisoned in a waterlogged terrain with little prospect for life – in this new game. The trip will lead players over the horizon in a desperate attempt for freedom. Toe seeks answers about what happened to their home.
The next entry into Okomotive’s world presents fans with a fresh experience as they sail the high seas and scour the deepest ocean floors later this year. Expect the same captivating art style, meditative side-scrolling gameplay, and haunting soundtrack from composer Joel Schoch as Lone Sails.
FAR: Changing Tides launches later this 2021 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC.
My Take
FAR: Lone Sails is one of the best indie games in recent years, so we have high hopes for this follow-up.
