FIFA 22 Career Mode Adds Create A Club Mode

FIFA 22's career mode will let you build a club from the ground up via create a club, allowing you to tweak even the most minor details.

EA Sports continues to reveal more and more about FIFA 22 as we inch closer to the launch of the next game in the football sim series. The latest information dropped via a trailer and a blog post was all about what appears to be a completely overhauled career mode. One that will now include the ability for players to create their very own club.

Creating a club in manager career will allow you to make your brand new team uniquely yours. Decisions will need to be made on everything, from what the commentary team will call your club, to the color and design of your new kits. You'll even be able to edit a pre-existing stadium so that its look and whatever the fans are chanting is in keeping with your team.

While the squad you start with will be randomly generated, you will also have a lot of control over the ability and age of your team. You will first need to pick the average star rating and age of the squad before your players are created. The league in which you will begin your journey will determine the mix of nationalities in your squad. If you're in the Premier League, and 7% of Premier League players are French, then there's a 7% chance a randomly generated player will also be French.

Making a series that releases a new game every 12 months feel unique can be tough. EA is under more pressure than ever to do that via FIFA this year as Konami is attempting to make quite the comeback with its own football sim, Pro Evo. Pro Evo will become eFootball later this year and will forgo annual releases entirely after that. They will be replaced by regular updates. The rebooted series' success could well change the way FIFA works in the future.

EA is demonstrating that it knows FIFA 22 needs to be a drastic step up from FIFA 21. Not just via its vastly improved career mode, but also the addition of hypermotion in the next-gen version of the game. EA isn't exactly lending itself to last-gen owners, however, already confirming, unlike FIFA 21, a standard last-gen copy of FIFA 22 will not include a next-gen upgrade.
