One thing that surely helps Fortnite stand out from other battle royales is crossover events. No other game in the genre rides on the bandwagon, and even if they did, it's hard to imagine they would do it as well as Fortnite has. From organizing premiere events like the Ariana Grande Rift Tour to collaborating with other IPs like DC's Batman, Epic Games makes sure Fortnite has something for everyone, and it looks like it'll hit the spot for the social deduction crowd next.
Anyone that's played or watches others play Among Us knows that specific words pretty much always pop up throughout a match, as they communicate locations and game mechanics. Files in Fortnite contain some of these words — specifically, "Electrical," "Security," "Cafeteria," "Tasks," and "Sabotage." For those out of the loop, "Electrical," "Security," and "Cafeteria" are common areas in Among Us, while "Tasks" and "Sabotage" refer to actions taken by Crewmates and Imposters, respectively.

HYPEX, a reliable Fortnite leaker, data-mined the game to discover a file called "Mole" that contains these mentioned keywords. In other words, it looks like Epic Games is planning a Fortnite x Among Us crossover event. If the keywords lacked "Tasks" and "Sabotage," the files wouldn't be so suspicious because the other words don't represent Among Us as heavily. But since they do, and Fortnite features so many wacky crossovers already, it's hard to believe the files aren't pointing at a future crossover between the two games.
That said, HYPEX points out the possibility that the keywords might mean something else, as they also contain "Visitor CSI" and "The Loop," which refer to Fortnite-specific events, but really, these words don't overshadow the ones pointing toward Among Us. If anything, they just mean that the Among Us crossover event, whatever it might be, will impact Fortnite's overarching storyline because there's really no getting around the Sabotage and Tasks keywords.
How the potential Among Us crossover will work remains a mystery. HYPEX suggests that the filename "Mole" refers to Imposters. Add that to the keywords it contains, and it sounds like Epic Games plans to make the event a Limited Time Mode, similar to the Avengers: Endgame event it did a while back. Only this time, a "Mole," or Imposter, will be working to kill other players without getting caught, embodying the spirit of Among Us. Fortnite fans shouldn't have long to wait to find out.
Fortnite is on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
