Today is a big day for fans of Fortnite, as its the launch of the Marvel-themed Season 4 in the battle royale game. Unfortunately, many Fortnite fans are currently unable to play the game, with thousands reporting issues connecting across all platforms.
Epic Games is aware of the Fortnite connectivity issues, and has released a statement to that effect. Epic Games is currently investigating the problems with Fortnite services, specifically pointing out that logging in and matchmaking is not working for players. Epic will provide an update when the issues have been resolved, but did not provide a specific timetable for when Fortnite fans can expect to start playing the game again.

It’s unclear exactly what caused this issue, as the Fortnite servers are typically pretty stable and rarely go down, if ever. It’s possible that it’s experiencing an overwhelming influx of players due to the release of the Marvel-themed content and challenges, but considering how many people play Fortnite regularly, that seems unlikely. Hopefully Epic Games is able to resolve the problem sooner rather than later, and we will update this article as soon as it does.
While PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One gamers can expect to play Fortnite Season 4 later today when the problems have been resolved, those on iOS devices won’t be as lucky. Due to the ongoing legal battle between Epic Games and Apple, Fortnite on iOS devices is stuck in Season 3. There’s currently no end in sight for the legal issues either, and so it’s unclear when Apple users will get to experience Fortnite‘s Marvel content.
Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
