Ghost Of Tsushima Iki Island Trailer Reveals New Enemies And Storyline

Ahead of the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut launch on August 20, Sucker Punch Productions has released a new trailer focused on Iki Island. The two-minute trailer takes a closer look at the enemies you'll be facing on the island, along with an in-depth look at the reason for Jin's travels.

The Iki Island DLC will be included as part of the Director's Cut. Folks who already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 can upgrade to the new version for $19.99, while newcomers can pick it up for $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4. As for the Iki Island expansion, it looks to offer more of the same content that made Ghost of Tsushima popular in the first place – a sprawling world to explore, tense narrative, and plenty of sword-swinging combat are just the beginning.

"Jin’s journey begins when he discovers that a mysterious Mongol tribe has gained a foothold on Iki," Patrick Downs, senior writer at Sucker Punch, said. "They are led by a revered shaman called Ankhsar Khatun, known to her followers as 'the Eagle.' As both a khatun and a shaman, she is not only a conqueror of nations, but a shepherd of souls. And the danger she presents to Jin and his people is unlike any they have faced."

Downs said the version of Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima is a "semi-fictional" land filled with raiders, criminals, and pockmarked with the remains of wars long since ended. In order to navigate this dangerous land and bring down the Eagle, he'll need to work with Iki Island locals. According to Downs, the narrative for this DLC will be just as emotional as the base game.

"We’ll also continue telling intimate, emotional, personal stories. Stories about real people struggling to let go of old hatreds and survive in a time of war. Stories about how it feels to be caught between preserving cherished beliefs and defending your home. What it means to be Lord Sakai… and what it means to be the Ghost."

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will be available on August 20.
