Gran Turismo as a series has a knack for applying incredible attention to detail- which, of course, is doubly important in a genre that always strives for authenticity, as racing sims do. Developers Polyphony Digital have every intention of keeping that going with the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 as well.

Speaking recently at the finals of the FIA Gran Turismo Championships 2020, Gran Turismo series producer and Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi talked about how the studio always strives to apply the greatest attention to detail in its games, and how it wants to make zero concessions in that regard with Gran Turismo 7 as well.

“We always pursue the best at Polyphony Digital,” said Yamauchi (via VGC). “We don’t want to make concessions on anything. We want to deliver the best to everyone. And this is no longer just my thinking, but it’s the mindset of all 200 or so staff at our company.

“They say in Japan that ‘divinity comes to reside in the details’ and it’s so true. How much attention you pay to the fine details, how to perfect it, hone it to perfection and applying an incredible amount of attention to this, is our production style.”

Gran Turismo 7 is not planned as a cross-gen game, and will be releasing exclusively for PS5. The racing sim is targeting 4K and 60 FPS, while ray-tracing support has also been confirmed. It is due out some time in 2021.
