GTA Online Gets Seven New Survival Maps

GTA Online's Survival mode has received seven new maps as part of this week's update and will pay out double rewards for completing them.

Eight years later and GTA Online continues to receive weekly online updates. This week, seven new maps have been added to GTA Online's survival mode. “Strap up and battle the Ballas, Vagos and more across seven new Survivals, out now,” Rockstar's update notes read. Even better, completing the new maps will earn you double XP and GTA$ for a limited time, as well as GTA$100,000 just for taking part.

For those of you unfamiliar with GTA's Survival maps, they pretty much involve you doing exactly what you would expect from the name, survive. One to four players are tasked with defending locations from invading NPCs, with each wave getting bigger and more difficult to fend off. Sort of like Call of Duty's Zombies without the undead factor.

As well as double rewards for playing Survival, GTA Online players can also receive triple the cash and RP for taking part in Freemode Events and Challenges between now and July 19, 2021. Rockstar also tells players to be on the lookout for Simeon Yetarian. Completing one of Yetarian's Export Requests right now will earn you a pair of exclusive sunglasses.

The notes for this latest update look more or less the same as any other. A rundown of the modes most worth your while right now and the perks that come with them. However, a note at the foot of the page is somewhat unfamiliar. One letting GTA Online players know some of its jobs will be removed to make room for new features. That process has already begun, but apparently, jobs that are removed will be cycled back in over time.

GTA Online continues to thrive and is clearly Rockstar's primary focus right now. It might seem as if everyone is clamoring for anything relating to concrete GTA 6 news, but the activity in Los Santos right now suggests most are still more than happy to keep playing GTA 5's online elements. Not to mention the 145 million copies sold, a number that will only continue to grow once GTA 5 arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this November.
