Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a brand new Pokémon game, kicking off a new open world-focused series. It’s set in the Hisui Region, in an age long ago. This area would eventually become the Sinnoh region, there the upcoming remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are set, and as such features Pokémon predominantly from Generation 4. Pokémon Legends Arceus’ Pokédex also pulls from other Generations however, and even adds in some new Pokémon for good measure.
To help you keep track of every Pokémon you can encounter in the Hisui Region, we’ve put together this Legends Arceus Pokédex guide. It includes all of the new Pokémon that are being added, as well as the Pokémon we’ve seen so far in trailers and pre-release materials. As more are added and confirmed, we’ll be sure to update this guide. Let’s see what Pokémon are waiting in Pokémon Legends Arceus.

New Pokémon Being Added in Pokémon Legends Arceus
There are four new Pokémon being introduced in Pokémon Legends Arceus.
Two of them are brand new evolutions for existing Pokémon, new forms influenced by the Hisui Region. The other two are Hisuian Forms of existing Pokémon. These have different appearances and types to their cousins in other games, with new designs that mirror the environments these Pokémon live in.
Let’s take a look at each of the new Pokémon, including their type and what we know about them so far.
Wyrdeer
Wyrdeer is a brand new Pokémon being added to the Pokédex in Legends Arceus.
It’s an evolution of a Stantler, adapted to the colder region it lives in. It is revered amongst people, and garments made from its shedded fur are highly prized. In the second trailer released for the game the player is shown riding a Wyrdeer, using its horns as handles of a sort. It is a Normal/Psychic type, able to emit Psychic energy from its antlers.
Wyrdeer is said to search out safe paths using its antlers like antennae, leading young Stantler across the region.
Basculegion
Next up we have Basculegion.
This new Pokémon is an evolution of a Basculin, occurring when it is said to have absorbed the souls of other Pokémon from its school, specifically ones that could not withstand the harsh journey upstream. It is empowered by these souls, and uses this power to swim with incredible force, and without ever tiring.
The player can ride Basulegion across rivers and lakes, powering across waves gracefully. Basculegion is a Water/Ghost Pokémon, which is very rare indeed.
Hisuian Growlithe
You’ll no doubt recognise Growlithe, but not in this new form.
Hisuian Growlithe has grown thick fur over its head and face to keep its flame warm in the harsh winters. It also has a sharp horn on its head that’s made of rock. While sharp, this horn is brittle, breaking on impact. Because of this, Hisuian Growlithe only uses it when it’ll have the greatest effect.
While living in the wilds of Hisui, Growlithe have kept their distance from humans. Building trust with one will take time and patience. Once you have earned its trust, you’ll get to make use of its Fire/Rock type attacks.
Hisuian Braviary
Finally, we have Hisuian Braviary.
This is a new form of Braviary, evolved from Rufflets endemic to the Hisui Region. It tends to live alone rather than in a flock like its normal form, and is generally larger.
Hisuian Braviary imbues its screeches with Psychic energy, generating powerful shock waves. It also has razor-sharp talons that it uses to seize its prey. Some have reported that it can enter a sort of trance, boosting its Psychic abilities.
Pokémon Legends Arceus Confirmed Pokédex So Far
We’ve been busy pouring through the two main trailers that have been released for Pokémon Legends Arceus so far, and putting together a list of which Pokémon are set to appear in the game. We found 88 Pokémon in the trailers and pre-release materials.
Click on the headers to sort alphabetically (or numerically) by Name, Generation or Type. You can also read their corresponding Pokédex entry (thanks, Bulbapedia).
We’ve left out evolutions for now, as we don’t know how they will be handled in the game yet, but it’s safe to assume that the Pokémon listed will also have their direct evolutions included in the Pokédex.
We’ll update the table below as more Pokémon are announced, and once we hear of any other Hisuian Forms or evolutions.
Name | Generation | Type | Pokédex Entry |
---|---|---|---|
Abomasnow | IV | Grass/Snow | This Pokémon is known to bring blizzards. A shake of its massive body is enough to cause whiteout conditions. |
Abra | I | Psychic | This Pokémon uses its psychic powers while it sleeps. The contents of Abra's dreams affect the powers that the Pokémon wields. |
Aipom | II | Normal | It searches for prey from the tops of trees. When it spots its favorite food, Bounsweet, Aipom gets excited and pounces. |
Arceus | IV | Normal | It is told in mythology that this Pokémon was born before the universe even existed. |
Basculegion | VIII | Water/Ghost | N/A |
Basculin | V | Water | Blue-striped Basculin used to be a common food source. They apparently have an inoffensive, light flavor. |

Bidoof | IV | Normal | It constantly gnaws on logs and rocks to whittle down its front teeth. It nests alongside water. |

Combee | IV | Bug/Flying | The members of the trio spend all their time together. Each one has a slightly different taste in nectar. |
Croagunk | IV | Poison/Fighting | It makes frightening noises with its poison-filled cheek sacs. When opponents flinch, Croagunk hits them with a poison jab. |
Crobat | II | Poison/Flying | This Pokémon flaps its four wings skillfully. Crobat can fly through cramped caves without needing to slow down. |

Drapion | IV | Poison/Dark | Its poison is potent, but it rarely sees use. This Pokémon prefers to use physical force instead, going on rampages with its car-crushing strength. |
Eevee | I | Normal | Thanks to its unstable genetic makeup, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions. |
Floatzel | IV | Water | Its flotation sac developed as a result of pursuing aquatic prey. It can double as a rubber raft. |
Froslass | IV | Ice/Ghost | After a woman met her end on a snowy mountain, her regrets lingered on. From them, this Pokémon was born. Its favorite food is frozen souls. |
Gallade | IV | Psychic/Fighting | True to its honorable-warrior image, it uses the blades on its elbows only in defense of something or someone. |

Geodude | I | Rock/Ground | Commonly found near mountain trails and the like. If you step on one by accident, it gets angry. |

Gliscor | IV | Ground/Flying | It observes prey while hanging inverted from branches. When the chance presents itself, it swoops! |
Graveler | I | Rock/Ground | When it comes rolling down a mountain path, anything in its way gets zapped by electricity and sent flying. |
Gyarados | I | Water/Flying | It has an extremely aggressive nature. The Hyper Beam it shoots from its mouth totally incinerates all targets. |

Hisuin Braviary | VIII | Psychic/Flying | N/A |
Hisuin Growlithe | VIII | Fire/Rock | N/A |
Honchkrow | IV | Dark/Flying | Its goons take care of most of the fighting for it. The only time it dirties its own hands is in delivering a final blow to finish off an opponent. |
Lucario | IV | Fighting/Steel | It controls waves known as auras, which are powerful enough to pulverize huge rocks. It uses these waves to take down its prey. |
Luxio | IV | Electric | By joining its tail with that of another Luxio, this Pokémon can receive some of the other Luxio's electricity and power up its own electric blasts. |
Luxray | IV | Electric | Luxray can see through solid objects. It will instantly spot prey trying to hide behind walls, even if the walls are thick. |
Machoke | I | Fighting | Its muscular body is so powerful, it must wear a power-save belt to be able to regulate its motions. |
Magikarp | I | Water | It is virtually worthless in terms of both power and speed. It is the most weak and pathetic Pokémon in the world. |
Magmortar | IV | Fire | When Magmortar inhales deeply, the fire burning in its belly intensifies, rising in temperature to over 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. |
Magneton | I | Electric/Steel | This Pokémon is three Magnemite that have linked together. Magneton sends out powerful radio waves to study its surroundings. |
Mantyke | IV | Water/Flying | Mantyke living in Galar seem to be somewhat sluggish. The colder waters of the seas in this region may be the cause. |
Mr. Mime | I | Psychic/Fairy | The broadness of its hands may be no coincidence—many scientists believe its palms became enlarged specifically for pantomiming. |
Munchlax | IV | Normal | It stores food beneath its fur. It might share just one bite, but only if it really trusts you. |
Oshawott | V | Water | It fights using the scalchop on its stomach. In response to an attack, it retaliates immediately by slashing. |
Pachirisu | IV | Electric | A pair may be seen rubbing their cheek pouches together in an effort to share stored electricity. |

Probopass | IV | Rock/Steel | It uses three small units to catch prey and battle enemies. The main body mostly just gives orders. |

Rowlet | VII | Grass/Flying | During the day, it builds up energy via photosynthesis. At night, it flies silently through the sky, on the prowl for prey. |
Rufflet | V | Normal/Flying | If it spies a strong Pokémon, Rufflet can't resist challenging it to a battle. But if Rufflet loses, it starts bawling. |
Sealeo | III | Ice/Water | Sealeo live on top of drift ice. They go swimming when they're on the hunt, seeking out their prey by scent. |
Shellos | IV | Water | There's speculation that its appearance is determined by what it eats, but the truth remains elusive. |
Shinx | IV | Electric | This Pokémon generates electricity by contracting its muscles. Excited trembling is a sign that Shinx is generating a tremendous amount of electricity. |
Skuntank | IV | Poison/Dark | In its belly, it reserves stinky fluid that it shoots from its tail during battle. As this Pokémon's diet varies, so does the stench of its fluid. |
