Whether you were impressed or disparaged by yesterday’s reveal of Halo Infinite’s campaign, it’s very much a work in progress. According to former IGN journalist Alanah Pearce, the gameplay was from an “early build”. As such, the game in its current state looks better. Pearce noted in the same YouTube video that the sequel would have released earlier but its story was completely reworked following the backlash to Halo 5: Guardians.
For its part, 343 Industries reached out to PCGamesN and stated that “The game was captured from a PC that is representative of the experience that players will have on Xbox Series X.” Given that more footage will be revealed en route to launch, we’ll see for ourselves just how improved the current build looks. Multiplayer should also be showcased at some point though 343 Industries is unsure about a beta.
Launching this holiday season for Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC, Halo Infinite is a fresh start of sorts for the developer, closing the Forerunner Saga started in Halo 4 while serving as the basis for new stories. It will be a platform for Halo in the next decade with new experiences added over time (including a free ray-tracing update after launch). Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
