Halo Infinite Has A Drop Weapon Key Bind

Something that fans have been asking for since the days of the original Halo is a drop weapon button. In its absence, players often team killed each other to get that sweet weapon that they were after. You can say goodbye to those days in Infinite as 343 Industries has added a drop weapon command. You can still kill your teammates if you want, but there isn't much cause for it now.

As spotted by PCGamer, Halo Infinite's technical preview showcased a bunch of in-game options including the PC settings. Here, you can see an option to change the bind for the drop weapon command. It's been two decades without this option so it's certainly a gamechanger.

"It's been quite fun to use, especially when you're playing with some less experienced players," live operations producer Sam Hanshaw said, "You can secure rockets for them and hand it over to them, and they get to play around with a power weapon they might not normally have gotten."

The technical preview showed an option for a drop weapon key bind for PC users but nothing has been said regarding Xbox.

However, with Hanshaw's quote in mind, it'd be peculiar for it only to be a setting for one platform and not the other, so it's reasonable to assume that console players will have access to this feature as well.

As community director, Brian Jarrard put it, "Dare we say this is maybe the end of betraying your teammates to take sniper? Possibly."
