Halo Infinite Pre-Install Now Available For Xbox Game Pass Subscribers

Halo Infinite will be included on Xbox Game Pass at launch and is available to pre-install from today, more than three months ahead of its release date.

More than a year after it was originally supposed to launch alongside the Xbox Series X|S, Halo Infinite finally has a new release date. 343 and Xbox promised it would be here before the end of 2021, and it appears that's a promise they are going to be able to keep. During Gamescom's Opening Night Live, it was revealed Infinite will be here on December 8, 2021.

If you're looking for something to tide you over between now and then, other than playing the litany of games hitting the market over the next few months, then you can pre-install Infinite right now. Only if you're an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, though. Infinite will be available through Game Pass from day one, and you can download it now so it's ready to go the second December 8 hits.

The listing estimates Infinite will occupy about 50GB of space on your Series X|S. Since Infinite will not include a co-op campaign or Forge at launch, that number is very much lowballing it. It has been rumored that Infinite will be closer to 100GB once everything becomes available, which might sound like a lot but seems highly likely when you take a look at the file sizes for other big-budget titles.

The reveal of Infinite's release date came complete with some pretty great-looking new hardware. A Master Chief-inspired Xbox controller, and a stunning Halo Xbox Series X. If this is the first you're hearing of the new console, you might need to break open the piggy bank if you want one. They sold out almost instantly and have been selling on resale sites for big money ever since.

Xbox's exclusives slate has been accused of looking somewhat empty since the start of this new generation of consoles. While the PS5's hasn't exactly been loaded, games like Miles Morales, Rift Apart, and Returnal have made Xbox's launch title list looking positively barren in comparison. With Infinite coming soon, and Starfield on the horizon, which has been confirmed as an Xbox console exclusive, the balance might be about to change.
