Halo Infinite's December 8 release date, originally leaked by a retailer, appears to have now been confirmed via a premature Microsoft Store listing.
The wait for Halo Infinite has been a long one. Not only is this the longest gap between Halo games ever, but the latest installment will have been delayed more than a year by the time it launches. Infinite was originally slated to be here at the same time as the Xbox Series X|S. 343 Industries scratched that and aimed for a fall 2021 release date instead.
Fall is almost here and there is still no official word on when Infinite will be here. However, that will likely all change tonight. The Verge reports that a Microsoft Store listing for the game, which has since been changed, included a release date of December 8, 2021. Sources have confirmed to The Verge that the removed date is accurate, and that Xbox will confirm it during Gamescom's Opening Night Live.

Despite having its own show yesterday, which many have accused of being somewhat lacking, Xbox will have a big presence during tonight's lengthy presentation. Windows Central's Jez Corden tweeted that Xbox owners will want to tune in, to which ONL host Geoff Keighly replied with an emoji suggesting he strongly agrees.
If Halo Infinite is going to be here on December 8, it still won't be the entire game. 343 has already confirmed that neither Forge nor campaign co-op will be ready when the game is released. Campaign co-op will be added to Inifinite during its second season, while Forge won't arrive until six months after the game is released. That will be June if the December release date is confirmed at Gamescom tonight.
The very good news is that Infinite doesn't appear to be getting a full delay beyond the one it has already received. It will be here in some form or fashion before the end of the year as promised. Even though some of its modes will be missing, that gives you more time to make the most of the ones that will be available at launch, and also something to look forward to if you grow tired of them.
