A Plague Tale: Innocence's gameplay mostly focuses on stealth. However, there are several moments when you have no choice but to throw down and end a life. The first time this happens is in chapter Two.

You kill a village person trying to harm Hugo. Shortly afterward, Amicia goes face to face with Conrad, the leader of the townsfolk hunting her and Hugo. This is effectively the first boss fight. Defeating him is not as simple as throwing rocks at him, however. If you are having trouble defeating Conrad, read the guide for a full rundown on how to beat him and how to avoid damage.
Reaching Conrad
Chapter 2 mostly entails running away from the malicious town population. You start off entering the town quietly and walking through it before Conrad points Amicia and Hugo out.
You mostly run through a linear series of alleys and engage with some box puzzles before an old lady gives you shelter. It is here where you upgrade your sling to be able to kill people with a single hit to the head. After leaving the shelter of this woman's house, Amicia and Hugo go on the run again. The chapter then ends with this fight against Conrad.
How To Beat Conrad
Beating Conrad requires two major strategies. The boss is designed to teach you how to dodge and get used to auto-aiming. Conrad does a heavy attack you need to dodge. This attack causes his weapon to get stuck in the ground. These are the moments when you need to shoot rocks at the rings on his armor. After taking off enough of his armor, Conrad's head is exposed and you can deliver the fatal blow. Of course, each phase is slightly different so there are some nuances to consider during the fight.
Additionally, if you ever run of out rocks, there are plenty in the area. One place to refill is on top of a barrel in the corner of a room near a stone wall.
Step-By-Step Guide
The battle starts with Conrad dropping Hugo in favor of attacking Amicia. With his first strike, the game slows down and prompts you to dodge the first attack. This is already the first opportunity to take out the sling and shoot one of the rings hanging off the armor of Conrad's shoulder on his back.
You have to repeat the same process for the second ring on his back. This time, however, he adds a different swing. If he starts the move like he's about to swing the weapon from side to side, then you have no opportunity to shoot the armor. Only when the swing comes from over his head will he be momentarily unable to move.
The next two rings holding his helmet in place are on his chest and upper back. For the one on his chest, put some distance between him and you. He'll come running towards you, this is when you need to shoot the ring off his chest. the last ring on his upper back can be taken off using the same strategy as before.
He is a little more aggressive now, but just dodge his swings and run away until he leaves himself vulnerable. Once his head is exposed, wait until he comes walking toward you, take aim with the sling, and then fire. Congratulations on defeating Conrad.
