How To Pick Up And Throw People And Items – Gang Beasts

Gang Beasts is a game that could really use a tutorial, honestly. I like being thrown into the action when I play games, don't get me wrong, but Gang Beast's controls can be a bit unconventional, and when combined with the squishy, blobby character and sometimes subtle animations, it's tough to even figure out what any given button actually does. This can be very frustrating.

But luckily, we have the answers. Gang Beasts might be a complex game, at least initially, but once you know what's going on, you can begin to outpace your opponents. And one of the primary things you will want to do to your opponents is pick them up and throw them.

Picking up and throwing your opponents and items is what this guide focuses on. Gang Beasts often feels like a hybrid of Fall Guy and Super Smash Bros. – and just like those two games, you'll want your opponents to fall while you sail ahead.

How To Pick Up And Throw In Gang Beasts

It's actually pretty simple to grab someone in Gang Beasts, and you probably figured it out way before reading this guide – lifting them over your head to throw them, however, is an entirely different matter.

But here we go: first, in order to grab someone you will need to hold both Punch buttons (L1/LB on PS4/Xbox), which will grab with each hand. Next, you need to hold the Lift button (Triangle/Y on PS4/Xbox), and finally, release the two Punch buttons to throw your enemy.

Now, the throw range is pretty short, so you can also run and jump while throwing – if your fingers can stretch across enough of the buttons – to get more range. This is very simple when you get used to it, and picking up items should be no problem.

When To Pick Up And Throw Enemies In Gang Beasts

Enemies are feisty in Gang Beasts – if you grab them, they very well may grab you back – or just punch you in the face repeatedly, either is likely, to be honest. So you can't just run up to foes, pick them up, and throw them instantly. At least, not unless they've disconnected somehow.

But you can knock foes down, and when they're down, it's not always so easy to get back up. You can "help them up" by grabbing them with both hands, and then lifting them over your head, and running over to the nearest steep ledge to drop them off. This is by far the best way to get rid of your foes in Gang Beasts, but you might need to rough them up a bit first. May I suggest a strong and swift Dropkick?
