After roughly 20 years, illusionist Uri Geller has finally dropped his lawsuit with Nintendo over claims the Kadabra Pokemon in the Pokemon Trading Card Game.
“I am truly sorry for what I did 20 years ago,” Geller said. “Kids and grownups I am releasing the ban. It’s now all up to Nintendo to bring my Kadabra Pokemon card back.” The original lawsuit was filed 20 years ago by Geller, where Geller alleged the original Kadabra trading card was based on his likeness, without his permission or approval.
He added, “It will probably be one of the rarest cards now! Much energy and love to all!” The original Pokemon Trading Card Game generation is the only time Kadabra has been available, as once Geller’s lawsuit was filed, Nintendo obliged and dropped the card from further generation prints.
It’s worth pointing out that naturally this only affected the Pokemon Trading Card Game, as video games in the Pokemon franchise has regularly included Kadabra, most recently with Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
The Pokemon Trading Card Gameis still being actively updated with new cards and versions of classic Pokemon, and is available at retail.
