Despite being one of DC Comics' most popular characters, most fans know that Harley Quinn actually made her debut on screen in Batman: The Animated Series. While fans have now been treated to a live-action Harley in several DCEU films, the character's original costume has rarely been portrayed on the big screen. However, this cosplayer will give you an idea of how the animated Harley Quinn might look in real life.
The cosplayer, who goes by the appropriate username cllownin on Reddit, posted two photos of their Harley Quinn costume on r/cosplay. As you can see, it's a pretty impressive recreation of Harley Quinn's signature look, specifically her black, white, and red jester-inspired costume from Batman: The Animated Series. They even included Harley's favorite weapon of choice, her comically oversized hammer. If you browse cllownin's Reddit profile you will see more impressive Batman cosplay, such as Michelle Pfeiffer's famous Catwoman costume from Batman Returns and Harley Quinn's partner in crime/romantic partner, Poison Ivy.

Created by DC animation legend Bruce Timm, Batman: The Animated Series remains one of the most popular Batman adaptations to date. For many fans this is the definitive on-screen version of the character, not to mention Mark Hamill's Joker will go down in history as one of the best portrayals of the clown prince of crime in eyes of most DC admirers. The series also introduced fans to one of DC's most popular characters, The Joker's lover/sidekick, Harley Quinn. Originally voiced by actress Tara Strong, the one-time psychiatrist-turned-villain quickly became popular amongst fans. To fit with Joker's overall aesthetic, Harley was given a kind of court jester costume. While this costume can be seen very briefly in 2016's The Suicide Squad, most of the character's live-action appearances feature her in more contemporary outfits, many of which still drawn inspiration from the iconic jester suit.
While she was initially introduced as the Joker's girlfriend, over time it became clear that their relationship was not exactly healthy or aspiring. As a result, Harley eventually left the Joker in the series and has become more independent in recent years in both the comics and other media. The character has become so popular she even has her own Harley Quinn animated series starring The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco. She's also one of the few canonically queer comic book characters, developing a romantic relationship with fellow supervillain Poison Ivy in both the comics and her TV show.
The character's overwhelming popularity eventually lead to her first live-action appearance in 2016's Suicide Squad. While that film was less than stellar by most accounts (apologies to director David Ayer, fans know it's not what you were going for) actress Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn was certainly a highlight. Thankfully, despite the film underperforming in every way, the character made a triumphant return as the protagonist in Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey. More recently, fans can see Robbie's third time portraying the character on the big screen in James Gunn's recently released The Suicide Squad, which is playing in theatres and streaming on HBO Max right now.
As for fans of Batman: The Animated Series, Warner Bros.' recently announced that they would be pursuing a new animated series with Timm serving as an executive producer. J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves will also serve as executive producers on the new show, which will premiere on HBO Max.
