Square Enix have announced a remake of classic JRPG Legend of Mana during today’s Nintendo Direct.
Originally released in 1999 for the PlayStation, Legend of Mana takes place in the world of Fa’Diel. The Mana Tree had burned down nine centuries ago; and war between humans, faeries, and more broke out as they sought mana. After the war, the Mana Tree regrew, and stored parts of the world in ancient artifacts.
The player must restore the world by gathering these artifacts, and placing them across the world to re-create those lands and landmarks. Where they are placed and where the player goes is down to them.
This remake features improved graphics, rearranged music (while players can switch between both that and the original sound track), being able to turn off enemy encounters, and the new Ring Ring Land minigame not previously released in western versions of the original game.

Legend of Mana (2021) launches June 24th for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
