Mario Golf: Super Rush is the newest entry in the much-loved Mario Golf series and with it comes a whole host of fun new additions. While the various game modes and offerings have a slew of content, there are still many things that people missed during their time playing. From tiny, superfluous details to more obvious things about characters, the world, and game modes, Mario Golf: Super Rush has plenty of hidden goodies to uncover.

One of the best parts of any Nintendo game is the secrets and references to other games or properties. Nintendo does a wonderful job at showcasing aspects of its other characters and game worlds in each new release. While they may not always be obvious they undoubtedly bring a smile to your face.

FLUDD From Super Mario Sunshine

FLUDD, otherwise known as Flash Liquid Ultra Dowsing Device, from Super Mario Sunshine, makes a subtle appearance all throughout Mario Golf: Super Rush. The course entrance gates feature FLUDD replete with a silver hose mouth, yellow body, and multiple buttons.

Many people will likely miss this hidden nod to Super Mario Sunshine since it doesn't completely stand out. Eagle eye players will be sure to smile the first time they see it at the Bonny Greens location.

Hammer Bros Each Have A New Challenge

Many people might opt to just jump straight into the Battle Golf, Speed Golf, or Network Play when first starting Mario Golf: Super Rush. However, to do so would mean missing out on a whole bunch of fun, easy-to-miss challenges in the Adventure Mode.

The Adventure Mode features many NPCs ranging from Koopas to Goombas to Hammer Bros. The Hammer Bros are there to offer plentiful challenges to teach you to master your golfing skills. Often found near the various greens, the Hammer Bros have a question mark above their heads signaling a new challenge.

Enhancing Stats Often Changes Other Stats

One of the most unique additions to Mario Golf: Super Rush is the stat points you get for leveling up during the Adventure Mode. Each time you level up you get a bunch of stat points that can be used to put towards speed, stamina, shot strength, and the like. You might think that you can freely upgrade each stat.

However, it's very easy to miss the fact that as you continue to upgrade your stats, other stats are affected, sometimes for the worse. For example, if you upgrade speed or shot strength too much, accuracy or shot shaping can then be downgraded. Keep an eye on each stat you increase to ensure another one doesn't change too much.

Yes, You Can Shape Your Shots

Mario Golf: Super Rush does feature some great tutorials, tips, and advice when first starting out, however, much of this only comes from the Adventure Mode. Most players that jump straight into multiplayer modes or the arcade-style modes will completely miss the tutorial that teaches you to shape your shots.

Shaping your shots essentially means you can better guide the trajectory of your shots leading to a better landing spot on the green. It's not a complicated thing to learn but is easily missed by those opting out of the Adventure Mode.

You Can Take However Many Clubs You Want

The Adventure Mode features a ton of depth for players to discover naturally throughout its run time. One feature that is easy to miss is the fact that you can take as few or as many clubs as you want, depending on the course. This may seem like a small feature but the amount of clubs you carry dictates some of your speed when running from shot to shot.

The obvious solution to this would be to just carry fewer clubs but by doing this you are missing out on taking a few extra that might either provide a buff to your shots or some other enhancement. You can decide which ones and how many to take from the club shop.

Attributes For Purchasable Clothing Items

Mario Golf: Super Rush features a ton of purchasable clothing options for your Mii avatar. These outfits are not necessary but often come with better, more nuanced enhancements that can help on specific courses.

These outfits might provide attributes such as running a bit faster to moving through the rough more efficiently to higher shot strength. These outfits often cost a good amount of coins so be sure to collect as many as you can during your speed golf sections in the Adventure Mode.

Adventure Mode Map

Within each distinctive zone during Adventure Mode there are boards that you can walk up to in order to see where the multiple locations are. For example, in the first main freely explorable area, Bonny Greens, there is a board that your Mii can interact with.

By interacting with this board, a map appears on the screen that tells you where the shop is, your room, the various training greens, and the like. It's a small but easily missable detail in this game.

Battle Mode Golf Holes Disappear

One of the most fun modes in Mario Golf: Super Rush has to be the zany and frenetic Battle mode. The Battle mode has you compete against multiple player characters or AI-controlled characters who try to secure as many holes as possible in a given timeframe.

What most players miss is the fact that once a hole is secured it disappears from the game. It's very easy to miss this game mode detail and you could find yourself still shooting at a hole that isn't even there anymore. If you notice another player secures that hole, quickly move to the next available one to score the point.

You Can Spin Your Shots

Another easily missable gameplay aspect is the fact that you can spin the ball while shooting. Similar to shaping a shot after the fact, spinning a shot can dictate if the landed ball rolls further or remains closer to the landing spot.

You can easily go through the game without ever spinning a shot but by leaving out this detail when shooting, you are at a disadvantage and could find your ball rolling into the rough, or worse, into a sandtrap. Make sure to hop into the Adventure Mode to get to grips with this easily missable feature.

Woods Course From Luigi's Mansion?

Could an alternate version of Luigi's Mansion be in the Woods course? While the game doesn't outwardly state this, the fact that both the overworld map and in-game environment feature a giant mansion within the woods is interesting to note.

Players that are familiar with Luigi's Mansion's first outing know that the start of that game has Luigi walking through some creepy woods up to the doors of the ominous mansion. Perhaps Nintendo chose to reference that game with the Woods course in Mario Golf: Super Rush.
