Siblings are a weird thing to have, if someone doesn’t have them they want them and if someone does have them there are times they wish they didn’t. Even though there can be annoying siblings, they are usually the people you can trust the most. This is why so many video games feature sibling characters as a part of their story.

There are siblings that work together perfectly almost like they are reading each others minds, then there are those who have a more sibling rivalry dynamic, and then there are those who can’t be in the same room without throwing hands.

10 Billy & Jimmy Lee – Double Dragon

billy-7845925

These two are among the oldest pair of video game siblings in history, introducing Billy and Jimmy Lee from the Double Dragon franchise. These two are the original side-scrolling beat em up brothers, going around the streets of their city trying to save Marian. It’s a really classic tale that is fun to play through. It helps that each brother is a kickass master of martial arts that can deal with a horde of enemies on their own. Nothing could ever drive a wedge between these two, except for the girl they’re trying to save.

9 Nasus & Renekton – League Of Legends

Moving from a story that ends in a tragic way to one that players see start off as tragic. Thousands of years before each of them entered the League of Legends tournament, Nasus and Renekton were both guardians of Shurima,

But events, caused by Xerath, forced Renekton to sacrifice himself and be trapped for centuries and eventually going mad. Eventually, Renekton was released and now hunts down his brother with the intention of killing him, yet Nasus does his best to save him.

8 Anna & Nina – Tekken

nina-3521048

The deadly sisters of Tekken, Nina and Anna, both made their debut in Tekken 2 and have been mainstay characters in the franchise ever since. For the most part, the two are palette swaps of each other, meaning that they have the exact same move set, with maybe some minor differences, just with a different look. The two constantly bicker and are usually featured in each others’ arcade endings, usually attempting to get one up on the other.

7 Sub-Zero & Noob Saibot – Mortal Kombat

untitled-6-15-6705921

Moving from a standard fighting game sibling rivalry to one that is a lot more deadly. Sub-Zero is an interesting character, as the current incarnation in the games is the second character to take up the mantle and the character known as Noob Saibot is actually the first Sub Zero who died and was resurrected. Fans get to see the two of them interact in the story of Mortal Kombat 11 and some of their prefight interactions. Almost all of them have Saibot being an absolute jerk to his little brother.

6 Chris & Claire Redfield – Resident Evil

The Redfield orphans of Resident Evil, Chris and Claire Redfield. Chris made his debut in the original Resident Evil while Clare made her debut alongside Leon Kennedy in the second entry in the franchise that recently got an HD re-release.

A strange thing about these two is that fans don’t get to see a lot of their interactions together, as they usually appear in games completely separated from each other. Still, the moments when fans do get to see them together greatly show their sibling bonds.

5 Solid & Liquid Snake – Metal Gear Franchise

untitled-3-17-7209919

Right off the bat, it should be mentioned that these two aren’t exactly siblings but instead clones. However, they are both clones of the same person with the same DNA so that counts. While these two share the exact same DNA as their genetic template, Big Boss, Solid is all of the dominant genes from Big Boss, hence why he looks more like him and Liquid is all the recessive, hence why he’s blonde. These two don’t have many sibling moments together, except for the class fights that brothers tend to have, just on a much larger scale.

4 Kazuya Mishima & Lars Alexandersson – Tekken

lars-9177187

Lars Alexandersson and Kazuya Mishima are an interesting look at video game siblings, as one of them appeared in their respective series a literal decade before the other. Kazuya appeared in the first Tekken game and Lars made his debut in Tekken 6 12 years later, where in that game’s story it was revealed that he was the bastard son of Heihachi Mishima, the father of Kazuya. This does make the two half brothers and when they first meet they seemingly try to catch up on the years of sibling rivalry that they missed out on and immediately start fighting.

3 Terry & Andy Bogard – King Of Fighters/Fatal Fury

untitled-1-14-5492904

Keeping on track with fighting game brothers, Terry and Andy Bogard made their debut to the world of video games in the Fatal Fury beat ’em up series, where they were originally street orphans before being adopted by Jeff Bogard who began to teach the pair marital arts. Eventually, Jeff is killed by series antagonist Geese Howard and Terry and Andy separate to train in different parts of the world. The pair eventually made their way to the King Of Fighters fighting game series as members of team Fatal Fury

2 Dante & Vergil – Devil May Cry

untitled-7-12-6955414

Dante and Vergil are probably some of the most turbulent siblings in video game history and that’s really saying something. The two were separated very early on in their lives after the murder of both their parents, one of which was a demon general. This led the two to grow up very differently and eventually have them clash which led to the “death” of Vergil. Dante then had to watch over Vergil’s son Nero, who Vergil didn’t know about, for a while before the two of them went off to kill demons in hell for eternity.

1 Mario & Luigi – Super Mario Brothers

feature-8-6419600

It all comes to this, the first family of video games, Mario and Luigi. These two are basically the ideal pair of siblings, at least that’s what Nintendo wants to get across, even if the fans try not to. These two always have each other’s backs, through thick and thin, though this usually just means that Mario has to save Luigi from a problem that Luigi usually gets himself in. Either way, Mario never complains and is always there to help his little brother, he even did it when he was a baby!
