Square Enix will do anything to distract us from the lack of Spider-Man news, including taking Captain America's shirt off.
The updates might not be the major ones Marvel's Avengers' players are waiting for, but credit to Square Enix, they do keep on coming. The latest update was rolled out this week and while it doesn't include anything about Black Panther, the War for Wakanda, or Spider-Man who remains AWOL, it has added some features that should pique the interest of at least a few of the game's remaining players.
One of those new additions is a new costume for Captain America. Well, actually, it's more a lack of a costume. When we saw an American Dream Outfit had been added to the game, we were expecting to find something related to wrestling's Dusty Rhodes in the Avengers marketplace. It's actually a Cap' costume featuring the First Avenger wearing nothing but pants and boots. And a Shield on his back, of course.

While shirtless Cap' has stolen a lot of the attention, he isn't the headline act in this update. That honor goes to Black Widow. Natasha Romanoff's standalone MCU movie has finally arrived on Disney Plus and in theaters. To celebrate, Square has added Marvel Studios' Black Widow Outfit to the game's marketplace. The white one you've seen her wearing in the trailer for the last year and a half, or in the movie itself if you've been lucky enough to see Black Widow already.
Shirtless Cap' and the movie-accurate Black Widow costume are joined in the Avengers' marketplace by Volcanic Outfits for any and all of your Avengers. As for the aforementioned Black Panther and Spider-Man, still nothing yet. However, hidden in the game's latest blog post is the promise of War for Wakanda concept art making an appearance during a livestream later today (July 9, 2021).
Marvel's Avengers will need more than a new Black Widow outfit and taking Captain America's shirt off to save the game, of course. The fate of the struggling live service title might well be decided by the War for Wakanda expansion. Spider-Man's arrival will play a part too, but since Spidey will only be swinging onto PlayStation versions of the game, Black Panther will have a bigger part to play in whether the game is saved in 2021 or not.
