Monster Hunter Rise and Nintendo Switch Still on Top of Japanese Sales Charts

Monster Hunter Rise - Apex Rathalos

To no one’s surprise, Monster Hunter Rise topped the Famitsu weekly charts for Japanese hardware and software sales last week (and has been seeing great sales all over the world, really), selling over 1.3 million units. Given the series’ popularity and the game’s quality, it’s no surprise that this week, Monster Hunter Rise has retained its place on top of the charts, managing to sell over 277,000 units across the week.

Meanwhile, Outriders has debuted in the top 10 as well, but its sales are far less impressive. A third person RPG shooter might not be expected to be a massive hit in the region, but even so, the game’s launch sales of nearly 6,600 units seems like a particularly low number. The game occupies the ninth spot in the charts.

On the hardware side of things, the Nintendo Switch is still far ahead of the competition. Boosted by the launch of Monster Hunter Rise, the Switch sold over 135,000 units last week. That’s nearly half of what it sold last week, but still far ahead of the next best performing console, which is the PS5 with over 20,000 units sold.
