Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Delayed Until September

In a post on its Twitter account today, Ember Labs revealed that it made the tough decision to push Kena: Bridge of Spirits back one month to ensure the game reaches the best possible quality it can. Originally scheduled to release next month, the exciting-looking action-platformer will now be hitting PS4, PS5, and PC on September 21, 2021.

"The team has been working extremely hard and we feel the extra time is critical to ensure the best possible experience," reads the Tweet. "We know many of you are eager to play and we appreciate your patience." If a delay will ensure that everything launches smoothly, it's absolutely worth the extra wait.

Revealed alongside the PlayStation 5 hardware last year, Kena has remained on our radar for its eye-catching visuals and Eastern themes. I haven't intently followed the development of the game, but I am excited to see what Ember Lab can bring to the table. With a dearth of mascot platformers that was only recently alleviated with Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Kena could become the unofficial mascot of the PS5 if everything goes off without a hitch.

Many will be upset that the PC version is exclusive to the Epic Games Store for a year, but then Kena will also be hitting PS4. Grabbing an original PS4 is relatively inexpensive at this point and there likely won't be too many compromises to the visuals or gameplay. If nothing else, it does mean the PS5 version is practically guaranteed to run at 60 fps.
