Netflix Announce Live-Action Assassin’s Creed Series

Netflix Assassin's Creed

Netflix have announced they will be producing a live-action Assassin’s Creed series.

Details are scant; such as what game or time period the series will be based on. We do know that Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik (Ubisoft’s Head and Director of Film and Television Development respectively) will serve as Executive Producers.

The game’s plot follows the ongoing conflict between the Assassins and the Knights Templar throughout history. While the Assassin’s stand for freedom, the Knights Templar seek order through the Pieces of Eden- artifacts that can strip people of their free will.

Abstergo Industries, in the modern era, use a device called the Animus to help find the Pieces of Eden. The device can help an individual relive the memories of their ancestors. The initial games focused on Desmond Miles, a descendant of several Assassins, getting caught up in the ancient conflict.

Netflix diving into video game adaptions is not wholly unexpected after the runaway success of Castlevania and The Witcher. That was confirmed to be getting a fourth season earlier this year. A CG animated Dragon’s Dogma was also recently announced and revealed, premiering September 17th.

Netflix will also be bringing a live-action Resident Evil series, a feature length film adaptation of Ubisoft’s Beyond Good and Evil; most likely Beyond Good and Evil 2.
