Ninja Theory dropped a new gameplay trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 at The Game Awards, but there’s still no exact release date.

The Game Awards is not just about handing out trophies for the best games of the year, it’s also a platform for developers and publishers to reveal new information and trailers for upcoming games.

This year was no different, as Sega alone announced five titles at the awards, while Hellblade fans got a treat too, as a new gameplay trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 dropped at the show.

Developer Ninja Theory showed a lengthy new trailer and reconfirmed that the game will be out next year, but frustratingly they still didn’t offer an exact date.

The trailer for the action adventure shows Senua, on her own, walking through what looks like a war torn mythical landscape (it’s actually Iceland), swordfighting flame-breathing demons and talking about revenge.

It all looks quite a bit more like the first game than the last, rather abstract trailer, which many worried didn’t seem to show much in the way of actual gameplay.

Either way, the graphics are outstanding and look like they could end up being the best so far for the Xbox Series X/S.

Despite warning ahead of time that they had ‘important announcements’ to make at The Game Awards, Xbox’s presence was surprisingly muted.

Hellblade 2 was the only game from an internal, first party studio but they did also reveal Marvel’s Blade, from Bethesda studio Arkane Lyon, and the previously leaked OD from Hideo Kojima.

Fable and Obsidian’s Avowed, to name but two, were nowhere to be seen though, which suggests they’re not going to be out in a hurry.
