New Pokemon Evolutions Anime Debuts On YouTube Next Week

The Pokemon Company isn't shy when it comes to anime – the main show is as much a staple at this point as the games – so it should come as no surprise that, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, it has announced a brand new limited series called Pokemon Evolutions. It debuts on both the official Pokemon YouTube channel and Pokemon TV worldwide, September 9.

This anime is a trek through every known region of the main-line games whether it's Kanto or [insert your favourite region here]. In the trailer, we get a glimpse at Leon of the Galar region from Sword & Shield, the games' two legendaries, and even Sun & Moon's Alola.

The limited series is comprised of eight episodes to coincide with the eight different generations of main games, although where the Galar and Alola episodes are placed and whether the show will run chronologically remains to be seen.

Pokemon Evolutions will not be released all at once. The first episode will debut on September 9 and from there, it will continue to release weekly. The first launches at 11pm Japan time which is 3pm in Britain and 9am CDT.

The official trailer has English text over top so it's clear that it will be accessible to English-speaking viewers one way or another. However, The Pokemon Company hasn't clarified if it will be dubbed in English.

You have seven days to get ready for an eight-week deep dive into Pokemon's history, stretching from the classics to the modern day, so snuggle up on your Gengar beanbag, grab your Pikachu mug, and cook up some Sword & Shield-themed curry.
