New World Players Caught Exploiting Bugs Will Be Banned, Says Amazon
New World has just gotten a new update which allows server transfer. However, the code behind this latest update seemed quite faulty, as it sent multiple players to a Character_Persist_Failure state. While in this condition, players will have the chance to send gold to others without losing their own gold.
The New World character that was transferred—after getting an error message—can send gold to other players who are not experiencing the same error. After they reload the game, the gold that they sent will return to their inventory, but the deposit made to the other player will remain. Apparently, many New World players have started to exploit this glitch and have duplicated gold in massive quantities.
Amazon is already aware of what is going on and they have everything recorded. They have issued a statement, reminding New World players that intentionally exploiting a glitch at this scale is against the game’s Code of Conduct.
“Since transfers began, we have identified a small number of characters who, after moving servers, are in an invalid data state that prevents their character from properly saving,” Amazon wrote in their statement. “We have corrected the characters in this condition as of this morning.”
However, Amazon also warned New World players who exploited the error. “Some players among this small set transferred gold or items while their character was affected,” they continued. “All of these transactions are logged in our database.”
At the moment, Amazon is “reviewing” all of these said transactions in New World. “Any players found deliberately using this condition to gain advantage will be banned for exploiting,” Amazon added. “We will also remove items or gold received where appropriate.”
According to New World’s Code of Conduct, it is against the rules to “exploit bugs or other unintended uses of game features.” “We reserve the right to determine what constitutes unfair play and to take corrective action we deem appropriate,” Amazon stated. It remains unclear if banned New World players will be permanently barred from playing the game.
