Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection had been a rumor back in September, but it has now been officially confirmed as coming to Nintendo Switch! Revealed during the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, the compilation brings the following three games under a single banner:
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
- Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge
You can look at the game here:
So, a few things of note. Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection will launch on June 10. It’s unknown if the three games will be released on a single cartridge of if there will be any downloading required (similar to the Bioshock Collection, for instance). We’ve reached out to Koei Tecmo and will update this story when/if we hear anything. Not all DLC will be available, nor will online connectivity for certain modes; we’ve taken the following from Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection‘s official website:
Online multiplayer is not available for the “TAG MISSIONS” in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.
The “Clan Battle” for “Shadows of the World” in Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge is not included. Online multiplayer is not available for “Ninja Trials.”
There will be, however, a ton of costumes for Ryu to wear in each game, as well as the opportunity to play as Ayane, Rachel, Momiji, and Kasumi. For those who own Nioh 2 or Nioh 2: The Complete Edition on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, there’s an upcoming update that will allow fans to play wearing a Ryu Hayabusa skin in each game (sorry Nintendo faithful, that was too cool not to mention).
Overall, this is some really awesome news. The modern Ninja Gaiden trilogy comprises some of the greatest action games ever made, not to mention one of the coolest leads of all-time in Ryu Hayabusa. Will you be giving Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection a play? Tell us on social media and in the comments!
