Atooi Might Bring Hockey To Its Slammers Sports Series

Atooi teased fans with something cool over the weekend: a GIF animation of hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky in the style of the developer’s Soccer Slammers game! The piece was accompanied with the following quote from Gretzy: “The day I stop giving is the day I stop receiving. The day I stop learning is the day I stop growing. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” You can view the animation below:

What could it mean? Well, a hop over to designer and Atooi owner Jools Watsham’s Twitter page might shed some light:

Which of these international sports would you like to see added to the @AtooiLLC “Slammers” brand to accompany @SoccerSlammers?

Watsham asked fans to cast their vote to decide what sport would be a good fit in its Slammers style of sports games. As the poll reveals, 47.3 percent of the 372 people who contributed a response would like to see hockey come to the world of Slammers. Soccer Slammers, for those not in the know, is a Switch eShop title that strips the beautiful game down to its bare essentials for visceral, exciting arcade-like fun. Imagining a hockey version of that… well, feel free to insert a “take my money!” meme here. There has been no concrete announcement of “Hockey Slammers,” but considering Soccer Slammers was developed by just Watsham and “Dr. Magic” Phil, it’s possible that such a game could spring up out of the blue. We’ll be sure to keep everyone posted, but tell us your hopes and dreams for this hypothetical game in the comments and on social media!
