People Can Fly and Square Enix’s upcoming role playing third person shooter Outriders has been delayed, it’s been announced. The developer recently took to Twitter to confirm that the game will now launch on April 1, almost two full months later than its previous launch date of February 2. “We will spend this extra time fine tuning the game and focusing on delivering a fantastic play experience at launch,” the developer writes.

Before the game launches, players will also get the chance to go hands on with it for free, with People Can Fly confirming that a free demo will be released for everyone on February 25. “We believe it’s important that players get to experience a new IP like Outriders before release, so that you can decide for yourselves whether the game is something you wish to pre-order, purchase, or play,” the developer writes.

The demo will include the first few hours of the game, allow players to try out all four classes, and feature both solo and co-op gameplay. On top of that, all progress made within the demo will also transfer over to the full game when it launches.

This is not the first time Outriders has been delayed. Originally due out in Summer 2020, it was pushed back to a Holiday launch window, before being delayed again to February 2021. The developers have remained insistent on wanting to deliver a full-fledged and finished product at launch, so the repeated delays do fall in line with their approach to development.

When it does launch, Outriders will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
