I’m a fan of video game music. You’ll find tracks from classic Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog games on my phone. But if modern games are more your thing, there is a new album out now for Overwatch.
That new album – titled Overwatch: Cities & Countries – is now available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and Deezer. The collection features music – including the regional themes of various maps – from the game. It clocks in at just over 42 minutes of music.
In addition to the new album, players can earn rewards during the Sigma Maestro Challenge. Among the rewards is a legendary Maestro Sigma skin. The rewards can be earned within Overwatch until July 27.
There’s also a new interview with the composer team that put together the game’s music. Adam Burgess (Blizzard Composer) and Derek Duke (Blizzard Music Director) give some background on the project.
“The album has slowly evolved over the past five years as more locations were added to the Overwatch universe and we now have the opportunity to share it with the community,” Duke says in the interview.
“We have always known that we wanted to give more of our music to the fans, and we thought that it was a strong concept to present all our location music as a cohesive soundtrack. The presented tracks are all extended versions of our in-game music,” Duke adds.
