Overwatch Fan Shows Off Impressive Ashe Cosplay | Game Rant

The Overwatch community is always sharing neat cosplays for the game’s roster of heroes, and one character getting a lot of love lately is Ashe. Another Overwatch fan has shared an impressive cosplay of her, though this time around they have used it to send a message.

While one Overwatch fan recently shared a lighthearted cosplay of Ashe that recreated her pancake spray, lil-batz took to Reddit with a more serious take. Unlike the pancake Ashe cosplay, lil-batz captured Ashe’s classic attire, with the default hat worn as well as the leather vest and tie. Everything looks great, with the cosplayer wearing red contact lenses and lipstick just like Ashe. Obviously, the white hair is also included in the design. However, many fans seemed more drawn to lil-batz’ props than the actual cosplay of Overwatch's 29th hero.

The cosplayer kneels behind a poster, making it unmissable for anyone looking at the image. Alongside a quote from Ashe, the poster references how poorly the employees of Blizzard have been treated. Some hashtag acknowledging the walkout and strike are also included on the poster, and the cosplayer mentions it in the title of her Reddit post as well. This is an awesome touch on the part of the Ashe fan, as she celebrates the hero while also making sure that discussion about the Activision Blizzard lawsuit is prioritized.

Unsurprisingly, this act led to tons of praise for lil-batz, something that was well deserved. A commenter also points out the similarity to Blizzard’s Hong Kong controversy from 2019, where a professional player was banned by Blizzard for speaking out against the Chinese government. As mentioned by Raxiusscore, this moment saw gamers using the Overwatch hero Mei to send a message, treating her as a symbol for their protests. Now, it seems like the same thing is being done with Ashe.

While a lot of the comments are about the Activision Blizzard situation, some do focus on just how great the cosplay itself is. The other prop, Ashe’s Viper rifle, is beautifully made. After being asked about it in the comments section, lil-batz states that this Overwatch item was 3D printed and refined for “three months.” During this long window of time, the player painted and sanded the weapon, making sure to add as many details to the hero’s gun as possible. With the cosplay itself being so well done, making sure that the weapon has the same level of quality was important. Fortunately, the Viper rifle looks just as good as the rest of the Ashe costume.

Still, as nice as the outfit looks, the focus is very clearly on the sign. Given the fact that the Deadlock Gang leader is a rebel that looks out for herself and makes her own choices, she is undoubtedly a fitting beacon for change.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
