Oxenfree 2 Lost Signals Is Coming To PS4 And PS5

Night School Studio today announced Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals will launch on PS4 and PS5 in 2022. The narrative-driven adventure game takes place five years after the original and features a whole new set of characters and another evocative storyline.

Oxenfree 2 sees you stepping into the shoes of Riley Poverly – older than the characters of the first game, Poverly is said to be "grappling with the repercussions of post-adolescence." She moved away from her hometown as soon as possible, bounced from odd job to odd job, and is now working as an environmental researcher in the mysterious town of Camena – a place where strange natural events have started occurring.

"TVs have been turning on and off. Planes have lost radar. Stations can’t transmit their signals through static," Adam Hines, lead writer and co-founder of Night School Studio, said. "A research group from a nearby college has been contracted to study the phenomena and to trace the source of whatever’s causing the interference. Riley’s job, as a new, freshly hired research assistant — is to do the grunt work: plant radio transmitters in prescribed areas and report back the data those transmitters collect."

For now, that's about all the team behind Oxenfree 2 want to reveal. We do know the game is largely based around the same narrative system as its predecessor, but much of the actual story will remain under wraps until we get closer to launch.

"I wish I could get into more of the game’s story, characters and villains and what happens if you go into the old mining town, Garland, and I want to show you all the weird time travel stuff and what Time Tears are but the rest of the team is dragging me away from the keyboard now."

Here's hoping Hines finds their way back to their keyboard ASAP.
