Phasmophobia’s Exposition update has arrived, and it adds several pieces of new content to Kinetic Games’ extremely-popular psychological horror title. Among that new content is the DOTS Projector, which is a piece of technology that can be used to hunt down ghosts. However, some players may be slightly confused about exactly how the DOTS Projector in Phasmophobia works, and this guide is here to shine some light on this matter.
How to Install the DOTS Projector in Phasmophobia
The first thing that players should know about the DOTS Projector is how to install it, as it will only be helpful if it is attached to some surface. Fortunately, it is very easy to install this piece of technology, and the process begins by putting it into a character’s hands. When that has been done, Phasmophobia fans should get near to the wall, ceiling, or floor that they would like to install the device upon, and they should press “F” when the Projector’s outline appears on the chosen surface.

How the DOTS Projector Works in Phasmophobia
As soon as the DOTS Projector has been installed, players will see a matrix of green dots emanating from it. Fans should pay very close attention to that dot matrix, as it will illuminate the silhouettes of certain ghosts if they pass through the area. This can prove very useful for tracking the movement of ghosts in Phasmophobia, and it may even help players identify the paranormal entity in some circumstances.
To note, the silhouettes that are revealed by a DOTS Projector can be quite faint, and they come and go extremely quickly. This means that players will need to be very attentive when they have one of these items activated, or else they may miss their chance to catch a ghost that is on the move. For those fans that are really struggling to see silhouettes despite their best efforts, it is recommended that they look at the dot matrix through a camera with night vision in Phasmophobia.
Which Ghosts Can the DOTS Projector Detect in Phasmophobia
While the DOTS Projector cannot highlight the silhouettes of every type of ghost, it does work with a number of them. More specifically, the technology is effective when a Banshee, Goryo, Oni, Phantom, Wraith, Yokai, or Yurei is present. Notably, the Goryo is one of the new ghosts that was added with Phasmophobia’s Exposition update, and it can only be seen in the Projector's matrix when a player is looking through a camera.
