This month features a repeat Community Day in Pokemon GO, but considering the Pokemon that is getting the spotlight, it certainly won't be any less popular than the last time around. The special Pokemon for August is Eevee, which means there will be a bit of added excitement and mystery when it comes to the day's evolutions and exclusive moves.
Eevee and its many evolutions will be the focus of the day when this month's Community Day arrives and Pokemon GO players can do a lot to start preparing for the big event right now. The August 2021 Community Day event fires off on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. That's right, the usual one-day event is extended to take place over two distinct windows to give players plenty of time to hunt down shiny Eevee and earn enough Candy to get all the evolutions they are on the market for.

Although tracking down Eevee doesn't offer any significant progress on the game's medal system for most players, the Pokemon's general popularity with audiences and relevance to the PvP metagame will help make it a massive event. Weekend long Community Day events also usually help draw a crowd, so it's looking like this will be a very big couple of days for the mobile AR app.

Starting in February 2019, Community Day events now always take place on local time, no matter where you are playing. That changes a bit over the winter months as the time is split between hemispheres rather than time zones. It looks like we're back to one time at this point though.

For US$1 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Eevee Community Day-exclusive Special Research story, Who You Choose To Be.
Recent updates to the game’s code suggest that this Community Day, like last month’s, will temporarily offer special Field Research tasks that put an emphasis on the featured Pokemon. Be sure to claim your rewards and clear out a space for these quests if you want to see them.
Niantic usually doesn’t confirm the shiny chance until after the event has started, but keep an eye out for shiny Eevee while hunting. They’ve been a part of every other Community Day event, so we fully expect to see them this month, as well.
That’s everything we know at this point! Eevee is definitely one of the most popular Pokemon, so it is likely to give trainers a good reason to take a break the usual daily activities and dive head first into some event tasks and shiny hunting.
Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
