Considering that the theme of this event is Sword and Shield, it is not extremely surprising to see Gen 8 Pokemon and Galarian variants take center stage in its Timed Research. Indeed, players that complete all of the aforementioned tasks will walk away with a nice assortment of Pokemon from the Galar region, including Skwovet and Wooloo, who are appearing in PoGO for the very first time.

Notably, there are a couple of new Pokemon in Ultra Unlock: Sword and Shield that players will not engage with during the Timed Research. Perhaps the most exciting of those absent Pokemon are Zacian and Zamazenta, who will be appearing in 5-Star Raids during the event. More specifically, Zacian will be around from August 20 to 26, while Zamazenta will be available from August 26 to September 1, and many players will undoubtedly be interested in battling these Legendary Pokmeon in PoGO.

There is also some new Field Research to complete during the event, and its tasks and rewards are very much in line with those featured in the Timed Research. Players can pick-up this Field Research simply by spinning PokeStops in Pokemon GO as they would at any other time, and they may obtain several of these tasks while they are hunting for the Team GO Rocket Grunts that they must battle for the event's Timed Research.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
