Pokemon Unite: How to Reach Great Rank | Game Rant

Pokemon Unite's final day of Beginner Challenges is here, and to complete them players will need to reach Great Rank in the game's Ranked Matches battle mode. While this may sound intimidating, especially for those that don't fancy themselves competitive players, it actually isn't too difficult to do with a bit of grit and determination. Before embarking on this task, players might want to have an understanding of what exactly they need to do in order to reach Great Rank, however. Without actively seeking out the tutorial within the game, it can be difficult to understand how the ranking system works. On the bright side, this will award players with a free Pokemon Unite License to get a new playable character, Crustle.

Players don't unlock Ranked Matches in Pokemon Unite until they reach Trainer Level 6, so players that haven't gotten that far yet need to just play Standard Unite Battles to earn Battle Points and level up their Trainer. Assuming players have unlocked the Ranked Matches battle mode, this is everything they'll need to know to reach Great Rank and finish the Day 7 Beginner Challenges.

Whenever players compete in a Ranked Match, they will earn Performance Points that accumulate over the course of several Ranked Matches. Reach certain milestones and players will earn a pip, this appears as a yellow diamond underneath the player's rank name. The main ways to increase the number of Performance Points the player earns include scoring a lot of points, maintaining a win streak, and playing fairly (ie. not disconnecting or idling during the match). The goal is to get as many Performance Points possible and accumulate those pips.

At the start, players will be Beginner Class 1, the lowest rank in the game. It takes three pips in order to rank up and move on to Beginner Class 2. From here, three more pips will rank the player up to Beginner Class 3. There are only three classes in the Beginner Rank, meaning if players can manage to earn nine pips in total, they will rank up and reach Great Rank Class 1. This is all that's required for players to complete the Day 7 Beginner Challenge, but those wanting to go even further can reach Expert, Veteran, Ultra, and Master Ranks if they can earn enough pips.

It's worth noting that these Ranked Matches are only available to players that have a Fair Play score of 79 points or more. This shouldn't be a problem for those that haven't idled during matches or quit out of games early, but if it is, continue playing regular matches to bring the score back up above 79. There's no easy way around getting to Great Rank, so players will just have to try their luck at the Ranked Matches.

Pokemon Unite is available now on Switch and releases for Mobile in September.
