A big update is coming to Pokemon Unite this week that is sure to get fans of the Nintendo moba excited. The title launched just a few weeks ago, but already has a strong casual and competitive following and players are about to gain access to a new set of skills as another classic Pokemon joins the game's growing roster.
This week Blissey will be added to the game as the latest Support Pokemon to join in the fun. The popular Gen 2 Normal-type Pokemon comes equipped with an interested set of moves that should help shake up the current Pokemon Unite metagame by bringing a different approach to the Support class. Players will have the opportunity to unlock Blissey's license later this week and start figuring out if the new Pokemon's playstyle works for them.

The update that will add Blissey is set to arrive on August 18, 2021. Once it has been downloaded and the game is up-to-day, players should be able to purchase a license for Blissey and add the new Support Pokemon to their roster. Blissey has access to the Bliss Assistance Unite Move, which allows it to dash to ally's aid and protect that ally from attacks. A short gameplay trailer for Blissey was revealed this morning and offers a closer look at the new Pokemon and some of its strategies…
Obviously thirty seconds of gameplay isn't enough to fully evaluate the new addition to the roster or really analyze its move set, but it's certainly exciting to see the game's roster continue to grow in interesting ways. Access to a new Support Pokemon has the potential to really shake up the meta game, just like when any new hero is added to a MOBA. It will likely take competitive players a little time to evaluate Blissey and start speculating about its strengths and weaknesses, but keep a close eye on the competitive scene to get an early look at how the hero is being put to good use.
No additional Pokemon were released or hinted at in the announcement, but players are still very vocal on social media in their requests for Blastoise. The final evolution of Squirtle seems like it should be releasing very soon based on hints and rumors, but at this point that is still mostly speculation.
Be sure to check back in the coming days for more Pokemon Unite news, updates and strategy guides. Once Blissey is live Game Rant will provide a full guide on the best builds and strategies for running with the new addition.
Pokemon Unite is available now on Switch and will be coming to mobile in the future.
