Like everything in the game itself, Loop Hero seemed to come out of nowhere. It's a strange mixture of multiple different genres and gameplay styles that somehow fit together perfectly. Players are tasked with hunting down and defeating the Lich that threatens the very fabric of reality, but they do so by controlling the world around them rather than their character. This is equal parts idle game, strategy game, deckbuilding game, and roguelite, and players can't seem to get enough of it. Although it was initially only available on PC, players can now rebuild the world around them on Switch as well.
The world of Loop Hero has already been destroyed, and the protagonist finds themself in complete nothingness. All that remains is a single loop. As they walk around this loop, the hero starts to remember things about the world, and these memories become reality around the player. Sometimes they take shape as helpful tiles that will boost the player's health or stats, but other times they form as deadly enemies to be defeated.

The Switch version of Loop Hero was revealed during Nintendo's Indie World Showcase on August 11th, and is slated to release this holiday season. Until then, players can enjoy the game on Steam still for just $14.99. For players that are already invested in the game, there's no word just yet about how cross save will work. More likely than not, players will have to start over when they get the game on Switch, but its entirely possible that developer Four Quarters will include some way for players to transfer their save data over from one platform to another.
There's a ton to discover in the game, including several difficult bosses and a secret ending for Loop Hero. Since the PC version has been out for a while, there's already a lot of coverage on everything there is to do and unlock in the game. Loop Hero can sometimes be quite a long game, so the ability to play it on the go with a Nintendo Switch will certainly be nice. Its low demand graphics and extended gameplay seem to make it a perfect candidate for the Switch as well.
Players should keep an eye out for news from Nintendo, Devolver Digital, or Four Quarters as the Holiday season draws closer. It won't be long before players are making countless more loops in Loop Hero in an effort to rebuild the world. In order to be successful, players will need to learn how to manage risk and reward, and most importantly, know when to call it quits and return home.
Loop Hero is available now on PC and releases this Holiday season for Switch.
