Psychonauts 2: How to Fix the Funicular

Fierro’s Funicular is a ride in Psychonauts 2 that is tucked away inside of the Questionable Area. Players cannot enjoy the Funicular until they perform some repairs, though, as it will not be in working order the first time that a fan stumbles upon it. Fortunately, it is quite easy to fix Fierro’s Funicular in Psychonauts 2, and this guide has full details on exactly how that is done.

How to Fix the Funicular in Psychonauts 2

To get right to it, repairing Fierro’s Funicular centers around installing a series of gears into the motor at the bottom of the ride. Specifically, there are three gears that need to be placed, and fans must use the Telekinesis Psi-Power in Psychonauts 2 in order to move them. While all three of the cogs of interest are in fairly close proximity to the motor, fans that need a bit of direction can find information on the precise positions of the gears below.

  1. The first gear is sitting directly in front of the motor, and it should thus be very easy for Psychonauts fans to locate.
  2. For the second gear, players should navigate behind the motor and look to their left. This will reveal a tunnel that fans can use to go under the Funicular’s ramp. After passing through that tunnel, players should look at the ground on the right to discover the gear.
  3. Fans that are searching for the final gear should begin by looking at the front of the motor. They should then turn to the right to face a bench. There are a couple of large rocks just past that bench, and the third cog is leaning against them.

As soon as that last gear is installed, the Funicular’s motor will spring into action, and it will now be possible for fans to use the ride to reach new parts of the Questionable Area. For instance, players will be able to access the cave that is hidden behind Far-Fetched Falls with the help of the Funicular, and that is where the rare fungus for Lili can be found. While it may not be possible for fans to collect that mushroom the very first time that they encounter Fierro’s Funicular, they can certainly plan to return to the area when they are ready.

Repairing a broken-down ride and collecting a rare fungus are certainly not the only activities that players can pursue while they are in the Questionable Area. Indeed, there is another optional mission in this location that centers around searching for Queepie, and fans will get quite familiar with the area as they work on it.

Psychonauts 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
