Rainbow Six Extraction Delayed To January 2022, Riders Republic Delayed To October 28

Rainbow Six Extaction has certainly been through a process. At first, the game was named Rainbow Six Quarantine, but was renamed after the brutal pandemic that swept the world last year. After being renamed Rainbow Six Extraction, we'd gotten an official release date for the game announced during E3, so we expected to see it hit the market in September this year. Unfortunately, after long-time anticipation for Rainbow Six Extraction, we bring unfortunate news. Though the game was originally set to release in September this year, it has now been delayed all the way until January of 2022.

An update was just published today on the Ubisoft site explaining that the goal of Rainbow Six Extraction is to “change the way you play and think about cooperative games.” They’ve decided that in order to achieve this goal, the game must be delayed so they can take the time to get it right. As we have seen other releases, such as Cyberpunk 2077, majorly struggle at launch, it’s potentially for the best for companies to delay a release when they feel it is necessary.

In a similar flavor, we’ve also been informed that Riders Republic will be delayed until October 28. The Ubisoft team posted an update for this game as well, in which they’ve stated that they need to delay the game from its original September 2 release in order to ensure that they can “deliver the best game for all players.” They've informed us that there will now be time for them to recieve more feedback on the game before launch.

We’ve heard more about Ubisoft than just their game delays recently, as just last week, we discovered that the company has acknowledged a toxic work environment as a “risk factor” in their annual financial document. The “occurrence of inappropriate behavior by employees” was listed as a “moderate” risk to the company. Hopefully, Ubisoft will be able to address this problem and shake the bad reputation it’s gained for its negative work environment.
